Augustine and his mother, Monica – St. Augustine’s Church, Washington D.C, USA

As a Christian community looking forward to the lifting of pandemic restrictions and ‘beginning again’, we are considering four scenes of the very first beginnings of the Church.

This week we will be introduced to Augustine of Hippo, North Africa (354 – 430 A.D.). He became a Christian out of the witness of his mother Monica, and a leader of the Christians of his era. In particular we will consider how as a Christian he responded to the trauma of the fall of Rome, and what we gain from his witness today.

The sanctuary doors are open for in-person worship (with physical distancing, wearing of masks and forgoing congregational singing), and live-streaming continues. We invite you to join us in prayer and praise. Organ preludes will begin around 10:25 a.m. and the service will commence at 10:30 a.m. The livestream can be found at https://youtu.be/409hIcVRVuM . Previous services can be found on the St. Andrew’s Youtube channel at https://www.youtube.com/c/StAndrewsPresbyterianChurchKingston

Have a look at the Order of Service, Notes of the Director of Music, scripture readings, hymn lyrics and announcements below – the electronic form includes hyperlinks for easy connection, and you can print them out if you wish for reference as the hour unfolds, or even through the week. Please join in worship, study and service as you are able.

Immediately after the service, we will continue with our annual general meeting. All members and adherents are invited to join by Zoom – your comments and questions will be relayed to those in the sanctuary, and your votes counted along with those voting in person … https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81854705429?pwd=cG5QY2FjWXl6KzJVSGxQMytVUVlJQT09
