“The days are surely coming, says the Lord, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. And this is the name by which he will be called: ‘The Lord is our righteousness.’”
Join us on Sunday as we welcome our Music Director – John Hall, and the choir to lead us in a traditional service of Lessons and Carols. Today’s service has evolved from a form of service first conceived in the late 19th century in England. In 1918, King’s College Cambridge performed the first Nine Lesson and Carol service which later became a traditional radio broadcast, continuing to this day. Another set of readings was drawn up by King’s College for use in Advent and this is what we are using in today’s service. Between the readings is a collection of hymns and carols from various sources and countries, from early Christian times up until modern times.
Organ preludes will begin around 10:25 a.m. and the service will commence at 10:30 a.m. This is the link for this morning’s service is https://youtu.be/2MUn5J3A0Kc Previous services can be found on the St. Andrew’s YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/c/StAndrewsPresbyterianChurchKingston
